JEFFREY MISHLOVE & SURVIVAL OF CONSCIOUSNESS AFTER DEATH

Jeffrey Mishlove, speaking with Simon Brown on his Past Lives Podcast 6/20/22, speaking of Robert Bigelow’s support for research for the survival of consciousness after death. Mishlove is the host of the long-running Thinking Allowed interview series, first on PBS for 15 years, and now continuing online as New Thinking Allowed. He is also the winner of the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies essay contest to “summarize the best evidence available for the survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death.”

“JM: I can imagine that if there are, let us say, thousands of planets in the galaxy or in the universe that have sentient intelligent life, that we’re..this planet is probably on the low end of what conscious human beings are capable of accomplishing. We’re too caught up in accumulating material benefits for ourselves at the expense of the whole, at the expense of the planet itself.

Simon Brown: In all of your research…has any bit of information came up that really surprised you?

JM: I would say this: that maybe the frontier, the most far out area, is to look at the relationship between (the) survival of consciousness and UFO related phenomenology. There seems to be a connection between the Afterlife and hyperspace. You know if you’re going to travel on an interstellar vehicle, at least if you’re a human being, the distances are so great, even traveling at the speed of light you can’t get very far….So I imagine that civilizations capable of interstellar space travel have mastered hyperspace. And I think that an understanding of hyperspace requires understanding the relation between hyperspace and consciousness. And that also means understanding the Afterlife. I think the afterlife occurs some “place.” The Buddhists call it the Bardo Planes. I think the mathematics of hyperspace may get us to have a more precise understanding of the nuances of the Afterlife and its relationship to the unconscious mind. And, surprisingly, its relationship to UFO phenomena.

Mishlove’s response about the connection between the survival of consciousness and the UFO phenomenon definitely caught my attention when I heard it while driving and listening to the Past Lives Podcast. But Mishlove makes the leap to “a connection between the afterlife and hyperspace,” in line with his idea that “the afterlife occurs some place” and the mechanics of interstellar travel. I feared he was stuck in materialism in assuming a location in some form of physical reality rather than a state of consciousness, but he pulled back from that ledge with his comment on the need for “a more precise understanding of the nuances of the Afterlife and its relationship to the unconscious mind.” Still the implication of a connection between the UFO phenomenon and “Post-material consciousness” is an area that researchers (and experiencers) such as Whitley Streiber have explored in the UFO field, and has a foothold in the Past and Between lives field going back to Dolores Cannon and Bruce Goldberg whose work I have written about on this blog. Layer on top of this the work of researchers such as Michael Masters, whose book “The ExtraTempestrials” I am currently reading, exploring the link between the UFO phenomena and Time Travel.

I feel this new terrain is a natural extension of my past lives work, and I have personally researched my own pre- and post-human timelines and personalities that occur beyond what Cannon calls the “Earth School”  — before and after incarnating on this current planet, which may be only one of the many planets where we experience physical incarnations once we open ourselves to the immensity of our soul’s journey from the beginning of this Universe. But I am still processing this material and haven’t written about it…yet. It’s encouraging to hear leading thinkers like Jeffrey Mishlove giving expression to ideas that would have been too, too far out even a few years ago.
